The exhibit "Science with Soul - African American Scientists and Inventors: Historic Highlights," developed by the Science Museum of Minnesota, will be on display on the second floor of the James W. Miller Learning Resources Center, St. Cloud State University campus, until May 9, 2003. Who was behind “firsts” and inventions that we take for granted today, such as light switches, bottle caps, golf tees, refrigeration for trucks and railroad cars, automatic traffic signals, chemotherapy, and open heart surgery? The exhibit features case studies of twelve African American pioneers in science, a timeline chronicling major contributions to science and society by African American inventors and scientists from 1670 to the end of the 20th century, and profiles of eight African AmericanTwin Cities scientists and engineers. The public is invited. Admission is free, and no reservations are necessary. For more information, contact Assistant Professor Pamela Salela, program coordinator, 255-4751.
