Hans Christian Andersen Hans Christian Andersen
1805-1875

Danish-born 19th-century author Hans Christian Andersen wrote some of the world's most beloved fairytales that to this day remain favorites of adults and children everywhere.

Among his famous stories are “The Emperor's New Clothes,” “Ugly Duckling,” “Thumbelina,” “The Fir Tree,” “The Red Shoes,” “The Princess and the Pea,” “The Little Mermaid” and “The Brave Tin Soldier.”

April 2 marks the 200th anniversary of Andersen's birth, and Learning Resources & Technology Services is celebrating the occasion with a display of his work in the main lobby of the Miller Center.

Many Hans Christian Andersen works, including books and videos, are available for checkout from the Miller Center. You can find a collection of them on a cart near the Reference Desk on 1st Floor West.
